My boyfriend can't have milk or garlic and we are low on cash. I would like to be able to cook something good for him so he doesn't have to live off poptarts and juice. What are good, cheap, and easy recipes for someone that can't have milk or garlic?
Easy!
1 can soup, either beef consomme or broth (chicken broth works too)
1 cup rice, uncooked
1 bag frozen veggies (any kind you like but a mix works better)
1 lb beef/chicken
some butter
salt and pepper
saute beef/chicken in a little butter. Add any type of spices you like (I'd use some parsley, paprika, salt, pepper, celery seed; and a little lemon pepper in stead of regular pepper for chicken). Set aside. Cook rice and frozen vegetables in soup, with 1 cup water (rice is 1 cup rice with two cups liquid).
Put rice in plate, top with sauteed beef/chicken.
Here is a recipe site using Campbell's soups...many good dishes, and you can leave out the ';expensive'; ingredients, substitute others and still come up with a good, inexpensive meal!

400g/ 14oz Tinned Tomatoes
Method:
1. Chop the potatoes in half and put in cold water. Bring to the boil and simmer for 5-10 minutes until just soft. Put in an ovenproof dish.
2. Season the tomatoes with salt, pepper and sugar and pour over the potatoes. Then cook in a preheated oven at 180*C for 15 minutes.

Make chili. It is very tasty, easy and very filling and can be very cheap depending on which recipe you make. This site has a lot of great recipes. Just leave the garlic out if it calls for garlic.

You can also freeze any leftovers for another day.
Enjoy and good luck
For us it's breakfast for dinner. It begins with eggs, you can make a scramble with anything in the fridge (sandwich meat, peppers, tomatoes, etc.) or just do over easy or scrambled with your bread options - toast, bagel, english muffin, whatever. If you have bacon, or canadian bacon you can use that. Depending on what you have, you can even do breakfast sandwiches which are easy and quick. Sometimes we make grits. It's all quick and easy and cheap since you are just pulling whatever you have in fridge and cupboards.
Anything %26amp; rice.
(Brown any sort of meat -- [chicken parts, pork chops, cut up beef, etc.] and a minced onion. Add rice, tomato sauce (or salsa) seasonings, and water. Cover and cook until rice is done. A can of beans can be tossed in too if there isn't much meat. And a handful of grated cheese (mozzarella or italian blend or jack) on top makes it perfect for my daughter.)
spaghetti bolognaise...we can get 800g of mince and pasta sauce and some grated parmesan. Its yummy...is my favourite. We have it with tagglietelle (spelling) instead of spaghetti as i saw on the cookery program thats how the italians do it...and ITS DELICIOUS!
